"Now if you are going to win any battle you have to do one thing.

You have to make the mind run the body.

Never let thebody tell the mind what to do. The body will always giveup.

It is always tired in the morning, noon, and night. But the body is never tired if the mind is not tired."

A First Time For Everything

You could say that running and I have a love hate type of relationship. I love a good challenge, just like I love a good run. It's how I sort things out. It's how I maintain self-esteem. It's my therapy. There is no denying how great it feels when a goal is set, achieved, and celebrated.

Fitness Tag

I've been tagged...thanks Kim! No, really, thank you! It's just what I needed. I seriously doubt though, that this fitness tag will resurrect this blog.

1. What are you most fond of accomplishing in 2010? That would have to be the will to never ever give up, or never ever give in. I can say, that "I can absolutely do hard things!" Sometimes getting exactly what we want isn't always what we need. If we become to focused on the loss, we miss the win.

2. What are your running goals for the year? My main goal is only to cross the finish line feeling good, and feeling strong. So, I am being realistic with my goals and my expectations. I have learned alot from last year that will have a big effect on how I train this year. I've got to learn to love doing more than just getting in a good run. I will be taking care of my whole body, inside and out. Hopefully, it will reward me in the end! And, running wouldn't be running without hitting the road with good friends. I hope to enjoy early mornings at the port-o-potties, and experience severe abdominal pain from late night laugh fests.

3. What is your favorite race? By far, that would have to be the Newport, Rhode Island Half Marathon. I was alone on this one though, and missed my running buddies incredibly. I can't describe how amazing the potential was. Unfortunatley, I endured the last half of this race in some of the most physical pain I have experienced in mylife. I still found joy in the journey which may be why I loved it soooo much! I will...I repeat...I will be back next year to slaughter the heck out of it. It may be the only "real" thing I do this year, but I will do it! On a side note, most of my favorite runs haven't required a race fee. Hitting the pavement with friends and freedom is what I love the most!

4. What is your favorite holiday guilty pleasure? I don't limit mine to just the holidays. I know it goes against everything about running, but it's got to be Diet Coke around the clock baby! Throw in a bag of Reeses P.B. Cups and I've died and gone to heaven, or runner's hell!

5. What is your most embarassing running moment? I'd like to think I haven't been running long enough to have experienced this! Top of Utah 2010, around mile 6 I found myself running next to a gal who wouldn't pick up her feet and just run. She shuffled along obnoxiously, all the while listening to her IPOD like nothing was going on. I honestly don't know how she couldn't hear herself. It was awful and everyone around us agreed. We took off so we didn't have to hear it anymore. I was becoming tired just listening to her. I never saw her again, until mile 25 when she passed me. My leg wouldn't let me beat her and it killed me inside. There was nothing I could do. How dare I get passed by "Shuffle Girl". UGH!!!
